The First Institute of Technology (President: Asuka Tsuzuki), operated by Tsuzuki Educational Foundation, has signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the City of Kagoshima (Mayor: Takaaki Shimotsuru). This marks the fourth such agreement between our university and a local government, following those with Kirishima City in Kagoshima Prefecture, Kakamigahara City in Gifu Prefecture, and Kimotsuki Town in Kagoshima Prefecture.

Background and Objectives of the Agreement
This agreement was concluded on the occasion of the opening of the First Institute of Technology's new campus, "Kagoshima Chuo Campus" (Location: 20-2 Uenozono-cho, Kagoshima City), in Kagoshima City in April 2026. The objective is to promote the development of Kagoshima City, foster human resources who contribute to the local community, and revitalize the regional economy by having the First Institute of Technology and the City of Kagoshima mutually cooperate and collaborate, maximizing the use of their respective human and intellectual resources.
Comment from President Asuka Tsuzuki
President Asuka Tsuzuki
I sincerely respect the City of Kagoshima's proactive efforts toward sustainable regional development, particularly its focus on key policies such as "Enhancing the Region's Earning Power," "Promoting a Livable City through ICT," and "Fostering the Future Brilliance of Children."
As a university whose mission is to "nurture human resources sought by society," we have been engaged in education and research that adapts to societal changes, including "Airline Pilot," "Aerospace Engineer," and "AI/Data Science," based on our founding spirit of "Life Cultivation through the Development of Individuality." Furthermore, we opened Kagoshima Chuo Campus this April, marking the start of a new hub for education and research in our Department of Information, AI, and Data Science.
Leveraging this comprehensive cooperation agreement as an opportunity, we will actively utilize our knowledge and educational/research resources in areas such as "urban development," "revitalization of the regional economy," and "fostering human resources who contribute to the local community." Through public lectures and student participation in community activities, we aim for a partnership where the First Institute of Technology and the City of Kagoshima can develop together, by contributing to the learning of citizens and promoting education that addresses regional issues, allowing students to use Kagoshima City as a practical learning field.
First Institute of Technology (Tsuzuki Gakuen Group / Tsuzuki Educational Foundation)
"Kagoshima Chuo Campus" to open in April 2026
President: Asuka Tsuzuki
The Tsuzuki Gakuen Group was founded in 1956 with the founding spirit of "Life Cultivation through the Development of Individuality." It opened as the First Institute of Technology in 1985 and changed its name to the First Institute of Technology in 2021. It is the only science and engineering educational institution in Kagoshima Prefecture with two faculties and five departments. It also boasts an Faculty of Aerospace Engineering that trains flight pilots, which is rare in Japan.
In 2023, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology certified our MDASH program as a "Certified Educational Program (Literacy Level/Applied Basic Level)" for universities providing systematic education in mathematics, data science, and AI.
