The Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA, Acting President Yoo Hyun-seok) will host the global content business program "2026 Series on Board: Tokyo" from May 19 to 21 at KOCCA CKL TOKYO in Tokyo.
"Series on Board" is a B2B program that connects Korean broadcasting and video production companies with global buyers. Through curated pitching, 1-on-1 business matching, and networking programs, it aims to expand opportunities for international co-production and IP business collaboration.
This year's Tokyo event will feature a total of 10 prominent Korean drama production companies, including those that have produced global OTT hits, content studios based on original IPs, and production companies with a track record of global co-productions.
The participating production companies are KBS Media, AK Entertainment, WHYNOT MEDIA, Barunson C&C, IMAGINUS, EO Content Group, Mr. Romance, KIMJONGHAK PRODUCTION, ASTORY, and BEENCENT. They plan to promote various forms of global business collaboration, such as co-development, investment attraction, remakes, format sales, and partnerships with OTT platforms.
Attention is also focused on the newly introduced "Spotlight Pitching" program at this event.
Based on prior needs surveys, this program will feature video screenings and pitching tailored to the genres of interest of local buyers, along with Q&A sessions between production companies and local broadcasting/video industry professionals. The aim is to introduce the major projects and production capabilities of the participating production companies from multiple perspectives.
Additionally, the event will include a "Pitching Session" introducing the main projects of the 10 participating production companies, "1-on-1 Business Matching" based on pre-matching with global buyers, and "Networking Events" aimed at fostering exchange between participating companies and buyers.
New IPs and development projects across various genres, including romantic comedy, crime/thriller, fantasy, high-teen, BL, and human drama, will also be introduced.
Expectations are high for the progress of substantial business discussions with major Japanese broadcasters, OTT platforms, production companies, and investment/distribution stakeholders.
KOCCA stated, "This year marks the fourth anniversary of 'Series on Board: Tokyo'." They explained, "Through this event, we have created tangible collaboration cases, including co-productions between Japan and Korea, as well as drama remake contracts and broadcasts."
They also commented, "We will continue to support the revitalization of global co-production and ongoing exchanges between companies in both countries."
Furthermore, "2026 Series on Board" is scheduled to be held annually in major cities worldwide, starting with Tokyo, followed by Bangkok, Toronto, and London. Customized global business programs will be developed to reflect the market characteristics and industry needs of each region.
