Metropolitan Intercity Railway Company (President: Ryo Watanabe; Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), which operates the Tsukuba Express (TX), will refresh and reopen 'TX Avenue Tsukuba,' a commercial facility utilizing the space in front of the Tsukuba Station ticket gates, on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Marking its 18th anniversary this fiscal year, TX Avenue Tsukuba is being revamped as the face of the station to become a more appealing space.

The entire metallic station space, which reflects the advanced nature inherited since the TX opening, has been updated to incorporate 'warm brightness,' a hallmark of the TX Avenue brand.

The design concept focuses on the strong bond between 'Ibaraki,' 'Tsukuba,' and 'TX,' connecting the thoughts put into each. Two of the exterior columns feature designs inspired by 'Ibaraki Kumiko,' a traditional craft of Ibaraki Prefecture. Furthermore, by using local 'Tsukuba timber,' the facility reduces CO2 emissions generated during transport, thereby realizing a reduction in environmental burden.

Through this refresh, the company aims to provide many customers visiting Tsukuba Station with a 'Tsukuba-like atmosphere' that encompasses both 'science/future' and 'nature/culture.'

The company will continue to evolve, aiming to be a railway loved by the local community and society at large.
