Hong Kong Trade Development Council to Hold 60th Anniversary Seminars & Receptions in Tokyo and Osaka in July - Introducing Hong Kong's Latest Overview and Future Prospects

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will hold "60th Anniversary Seminars & Receptions" in Tokyo on July 17, 2026 (Fri) and in Osaka on July 27, 2026 (Mon) to commemorate its 60th anniversary.

Once a hub for light industry and entrepôt trade, Hong Kong has evolved into an international business city responsible for finance, trade, logistics, and professional services, and currently plays a vital role as a gateway to mainland China and Asian markets. Furthermore, as a "super connector" linking mainland China with the world, it forms the core of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and is increasingly enhancing its presence as an international hub for new industries (medical, environmental, IT, and creative industries) as a city with one of the leading startup ecosystems.

In addition, Hong Kong, a pro-Japan market with a high interest in Japanese culture, is seeing expanding demand not only for Japanese food products but also for lifestyles, healthcare, environment, and creative industries, making it an important base for Japanese companies expanding into Asia.

This seminar will introduce Hong Kong's latest business environment, market trends, and future growth sectors, as well as provide a multifaceted perspective on strategies and business opportunities for Japanese companies to accelerate their overseas expansion by leveraging Hong Kong.

At the Tokyo venue, executives who have worked in Hong Kong and are expanding globally will participate in a panel discussion, sharing the advantages and utilization of Hong Kong for business, incorporating their real experiences and case studies.

At the Osaka venue, in addition to the latest trends in the Hong Kong economy, Mr. Dennis Wu, President of Ajishimi (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., which has handled Japanese food products in Hong Kong for over 40 years, will give a lecture on changes in the Hong Kong market and business opportunities expanding for Japanese companies.
