Aakel Inc., a company dedicated to realizing a decarbonized society through digital innovation, has launched its proprietary EV smart charging and fleet management system, 'AAKEL eFleet,' at Tonami Transport's Sagami branch.
Through this initiative, the company will store and utilize dynamics and charging data from light EVs. By implementing automatic charging control that accounts for electricity market prices and facility power constraints, they aim to improve operational efficiency and optimize electricity costs for the entire EV fleet.
Background Tonami Transport has set a goal to reduce CO2 emissions by 35% by 2030 (compared to fiscal 2013) and is actively introducing environmentally friendly vehicles such as fuel cell trucks and EV trucks, as well as electrifying company cars. As they plan for further EV expansion, challenges such as rising electricity costs, balancing total facility power consumption, and managing charging schedules for multiple vehicles have emerged. At delivery hubs, a mechanism is essential to efficiently charge numerous EVs with limited chargers and power capacity. Consequently, eFleet was introduced to support the optimization of energy management and future multi-vehicle EV operations.
Overview of Implementation In this project, the system will initially centralize the management of light EVs deployed at the Sagami branch on the eFleet platform. By utilizing accumulated operations and charging data, the system will establish a framework for seamless transition to automated charging control that considers electricity market prices and facility constraints as the number of EVs increases in the future. This will achieve operational efficiency, electricity cost optimization, and advanced energy management for the entire facility in phases.
Future Prospects Based on insights gained from this initiative, both companies intend to establish operational optimization at the Sagami branch and subsequently consider expansion to other hubs and application to larger-scale fleet operations, including EV trucks.
