On ABC Radio's "Sky presents Nakamura Shichinosuke's Radinosuke," Kabuki actor Nakamura Shichinosuke will reflect on his memories of the Osaka Shochikuza Theatre, which is closing in May. Mr. Kunihiko Hide, the manager of the Osaka Shochikuza, will be a guest on the program's segment "Urakata Dangi ~Uradan~". The broadcast on ABC Radio will be on Saturday, April 4th, at 11:00 PM.
"Sky presents Nakamura Shichinosuke's Radinosuke" is a program where Nakamura Shichinosuke speaks frankly not only about Kabuki but also about his private life, friendships, and hobbies, things you normally can't hear. The show began broadcasting in April 2021. The assistant is Ami Inamura.
This time, the show will look back on memories of the Osaka Shochikuza Theatre, which is closing in May. For 100 years, the Osaka Shochikuza has been a theater in Dotonbori, Minami, Osaka, that has supported the local theater culture of the Kamigata region. Although Shichinosuke has not performed there many times, he says he has many memorable episodes.
From a discussion about how cheers and reactions differ between Tokyo and Osaka for the same Kabuki performance, what was the "unexpected comment" Shichinosuke revealed he heard from the audience at the Osaka Shochikuza?!
And, the program's famous segment "Urakata Dangi ~Uradan~" will be revived. This corner features interviews with people called "urakata" (backstage staff) in the world of traditional arts and theater, asking them about their thoughts on their work and delivering an even deeper look behind the scenes.
The memorable first guest for the revival is Mr. Kunihiko Hide, the manager of the Osaka Shochikuza. As the last manager, Mr. Hide will speak candidly about anecdotes said to be a turning point for Kamigata Kabuki, the struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic, and his feelings when the decision to close was made.
Since "Urakata Dangi ~Uradan~" features a new guest each month, Mr. Hide is scheduled to appear for all four weeks of the April broadcasts.
Furthermore, after the program airs, on-demand streaming will be available on the Sky Corporation's website.
"Sky presents Nakamura Shichinosuke's Radinosuke" is currently broadcast on a network of 8 stations nationwide.
