"ABEMA," the new future TV, will begin free streaming of the original drama "Vacation Rules," with 15-minute episodes for a total of 18 episodes, starting at 8 PM on Monday, July 27, 2026. Today, July 7th, coinciding with "Tanabata" (Star Festival), we have released five new photos of the two leads, Kanna Hashimoto and Chae Jong Hyeop, in a two-shot that hints at the "beginning of their love."
▼【New Drama】"Vacation Rules" Teaser Video
This drama depicts a "detox romance" where the protagonist, Midori Hoshino (Kanna Hashimoto), exhausted by her busy daily life and suddenly unemployed, meets the mysterious caretaker Nishigami (Chae Jong Hyeop) at a seaside villa during an extraordinary vacation, and begins to heal her wounded heart. Released on the day of "Tanabata," when they meet for a limited time once a year, are five cuts capturing Midori stepping from the ordinary into the extraordinary, and Nishigami gently by her side, depicting their precious and somewhat melancholic vacation days.

These photos capture the romantic journey as their distance gradually closes: a moment of fresh innocence as Midori smiles and offers a glass surrounded by the villa's lush greenery; a refreshing scene of the two standing side-by-side on a slope overlooking the beautiful sea and port town, exchanging soft glances; a cozy interaction in the kitchen where they wear matching aprons and happily cook; Midori smiling at Nishigami holding a summer orange on the villa's terrace at dusk; and a scene where Nishigami embraces Midori protectively, placing a hand on her head.
However, behind the seemingly fun vacation days, a sad yet enjoyable event awaits...
Their love, with a destiny as poignant as Orihime and Hikoboshi, has already raised expectations for the main story.

To commemorate the release of these preview photos, we will also present a special interview with stars Kanna Hashimoto and Chae Jong Hyeop, delving into their impressions of each other and their personal "vacation rules."
[Tanabata Special Project] "Vacation Rules" Kanna Hashimoto x Chae Jong Hyeop Pair Interview
- This is your first time co-starring. Please tell us about your first impressions of each other and your thoughts on working together.
Kanna Hashimoto: My first impression was that he was incredibly refreshing and cool. Coming to a country with a different language and culture, and acting while delivering lines in Japanese, must be extremely difficult. He also offered many opinions during the performance, which allowed me to feel that we were able to create the work through extensive discussions.
Chae Jong Hyeop: I thought she was a very bright person, full of positive energy. From the moment I first met her, I was surprised at how perfectly she fit the character of Midori Hoshino! Thanks to Kanna's straightforward and unpretentious personality, I was able to relax and concentrate on my acting.
- Kanna, did you find any similarities or things you felt were alike between yourself and Midori Hoshino, the character you played?
Kanna Hashimoto: It's less about similarity and more like the role was written for me. The director even told me, "You can just be Kanna, not Midori" (laughs). So, it was very easy for me to create my own version of "Midori-ness." Things like being neat and tidy, cleaning whenever I have time, tidying up even when others are slacking off, and cooking. It was truly my personal self, with so many similarities. I could just be myself on set (laughs).
- Chae Jong Hyeop, were there any similarities or things you felt were alike between yourself and Nishigami, the character you played?
Chae Jong Hyeop: My tendency to observe people is a bit similar to his perspective as a caretaker watching over them, and his quiet side. I myself have sat in cafes before, observing people's fashion and studying it, so I feel a slight resemblance in those aspects and in not talking much. Other than that, I think we are quite different.
- Kanna, what do you find charming about Nishigami, played by Chae Jong Hyeop?
Kanna Hashimoto: Nishigami's charm, as I've discussed with the other cast members... is that he's simply "cute"! From his usual expressionless, mysterious demeanor, when he suddenly shows a crinkled smile, Midori often feels a flutter in her heart. That gap in his smile is truly charming!
- This work is a detox drama for busy modern people, conveying the message "It's okay to rest." How do you two usually detox (rest)?
Kanna Hashimoto: I'm the type who doesn't really accumulate stress; I just forget about it when I sleep (laughs). I think not getting enough sleep is the worst, so I make sure to sleep well no matter how busy I am. Even during busy periods, I eat delicious food, make sure to take mental breaks, and try my best to take days off!
Chae Jong Hyeop: When I'm working, it's a profession where I interact with people and deal with various emotions, so I think I find my own way of healing during my alone time.
- If you were given a long vacation, what kind of "vacation" would you like to spend? Also, please recommend a tourist spot in your country to each other.
Kanna Hashimoto: I definitely want to go to San Sebastián, Spain! I heard it's a gastronomic city with many Michelin-starred restaurants, so it sounds perfect for me, who loves to eat (laughs). It has a cheerful and stylish atmosphere, making it an ideal vacation spot. For a Japanese tourist spot I'd recommend to Chae Jong Hyeop, rather than a specific place, I'd recommend traditional Japanese performing arts like "Sumo" and "Kabuki," which don't exist overseas. "Takarazuka Revue" is also absolutely moving, so I'd recommend that too!
Chae Jong Hyeop: I'd like to travel to various places. I want to spend my vacation slowly resting, walking alone in unfamiliar places, taking photos, enjoying the scenery, and eating delicious food. For a recommended spot in Korea for Kanna, it's the classic Namsan. Especially if you go at night, the city's night view is truly beautiful.
"Vacation Rules" will be streamed for free, one episode at a time, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 PM on "ABEMA" starting July 27, 2026. A summer "detox romance" that will soothe the hearts of busy modern people, both fun and somewhat melancholic.
Please look forward to future updates.
