ABEMA, 'the TV of a new future,' will live-stream all matches of RIZIN, Japan’s premier combat sports event, presenting 'abc presents RIZIN LANDMARK 15 in HIROSHIMA' (hereinafter 'RIZIN LANDMARK 15') on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Hiroshima Green Arena, via 'ABEMA PPV.' In conjunction, a documentary titled 'Bara Sanpo' hosted by RIZIN CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara has been released.
'Bara Sanpo' is a program where RIZIN CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara walks through places significant to a fighter, uncovering their true character and hidden sides. This episode features Hiroya, who is set to face Asen Yamamoto at 'RIZIN LANDMARK 15.' Set in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, the program explores Hiroya’s journey from childhood to the present, revealing his lesser-known personality and determination ahead of the title match.
At the start of the program, Hiroya walks around Honryu Station in Himeji, where he lived until around age 21. He reflects on his past: a middle school life filled with fights, entering a juvenile detention center at 16, and living aimlessly after release at 17. He visits a park that holds memories of daily one-on-one fights. His middle school friend, Shogo, recalls, 'Everyone knew him back then,' and sends warm encouragement: 'Since it’s in Hiroshima, close to his hometown, I hope he fights injury-free, just being himself.'
Next, the program reveals Hiroya’s childhood home, where he lived from first grade until moving to Tokyo at age 20. His 91-year-old grandmother, Atsuko, who raised him after his parents’ divorce, and his older brother, Yuta, appear. The house is filled with photos of Hiroya, and his childhood room remains untouched. When Hiroya recalls, 'We used to go to the park together with snacks,' Atsuko smiles and says, 'He was honest and easy to raise. He’s my treasure.' Regarding his older brother, Yuta, who is seven years his senior, Hiroya shares a nostalgic story: 'When I got in trouble or skipped school in middle school, my brother punched me. I couldn’t fight back, so I punched the closet once—I remember that well. We get along better now as adults.' Hiroya vows to repay his grandmother: 'I promised to take her to a yakitori restaurant after I win.'
Later, CEO Sakakibara returns to Tokyo for work. DEEP President Shigeki Saeki and RIZIN Business Director Keiichi Sasahara join Hiroya to visit the MMA gym where he first trained. The gym’s chairman and Atsuki Aoba, a former Pancrase Flyweight top-three fighter and Hiroya’s training partner before moving to Tokyo, welcome them and reminisce. Aoba says, 'When we first met, he wasn’t really doing martial arts—he was just swinging punches. If he got hit even once in sparring, his eyes would change and he’d attack seriously (laughs). But he was willing to risk his life to get stronger—he was cool as a man.'
At a local izakaya, Hiroya is greeted by his close friend, Daichi Tomizawa. Though they fought each other at 'BreakingDown 6,' Tomizawa says, 'We became close after realizing we wouldn’t fight again once joining RIZIN,' and they enthusiastically chat about exclusive topics like dating.
Later, Hiroya’s mother, Hideko, a drinking buddy of Saeki, makes her media debut. She reveals that young Hiroya 'would go silent like a clam when angry,' yet shares their close bond, including trips to the U.S. Hideko, who works as a lymphatic massage therapist, supports Hiroya’s grueling weight cuts: 'The hardest part is water cutting. Afterward, his whole body aches like muscle soreness. It’s so heartbreaking… We’re all fighting as a family. After the match, when he takes me to an expensive Chinese restaurant and says, “Thanks, Mom,” that moment makes me incredibly happy.'
In the latter half, the conversation turns to his upcoming fight against Asen Yamamoto. 'Our styles are similar in some ways, so honestly, there’s a lot I won’t know until we fight. I can imagine a tough three-round war, but I picture myself finishing it. I think I have more knockout power. I’ve strengthened my grappling during my break,' he shares with confidence. On future goals, he says, 'I want rematches against Ito (Yuki) and Shinryu (Makoto), but more than who I want to fight, I haven’t beaten higher-ranked opponents in my last two fights, so I want to overturn public perception first.' He closes with a strong message to fans: 'I will absolutely win here and rise up. I ask for your support.'
'Bara Sanpo,' which delves into Hiroya’s unknown character and determination ahead of his pivotal match against Asen Yamamoto, is now being highly praised. Ahead of this must-see battle, don’t miss it.
Additionally, ABEMA will offer free live streaming of the pre-event open weigh-in on Friday, July 17, and free broadcasts of the first six matches, including the opening four fights and the second bout (Hinotori vs. Lee Jae-hoon). Don’t miss out.
