The certified NPO 'Acchi Cocchi' (Naka-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture) supports 'April Dream,' a day to share dreams on April 1st. In this press release, we share the dream of 'Acchi Cocchi.'
Our Dream We want to build a society where children with illnesses, people in disaster-stricken areas, and those who feel social isolation in their communities can feel close to music and art. Art is not just for special people; everyone has the power to express themselves. That power heals the heart and gives vitality for the future. We are working to realize a 'future where art reaches people of all backgrounds.'
Acchi Cocchi's Initiatives to Support the Dream Acchi Cocchi aims for a society where music and art are not 'for special people' but are delivered to people in any situation, through the following activities:
<Disaster Area Support> Since 2011, we have held over 200 cafe concerts in areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Kumamoto Earthquake, and the Noto Peninsula Earthquake to create connections. We also deliver handmade sweets from volunteers in Yokohama.
<Art Experiences at Children's Cafeterias> In collaboration with local nurseries and educational institutions, we provide a safe space for parents and children to gather, followed by a warm meal after the art experience.
<Children's Hospice Art School> Professional artists provide individual art lessons to children with illnesses, offering special time for them and their families.
<Exciting Workshops for Children> In collaboration with cultural facilities and schools, we create art experiences tailored to local children. We currently run 6 series, with over 1,000 participants in total.
<Artists in Schools - Outreach Program> Commissioned by the Yokohama City Board of Education, we are in charge of classes in choral music, opera, traditional Japanese music, and art in elementary and junior high schools in the city. We visit 5-10 schools annually, expanding the world of expression for children.
<International Exchange Program> We collaborate with overseas art organizations to develop activities that connect local communities with the world through international workshops.
Dreams of the Project Managers - 'To provide moments where children can let their hearts soar through art, no matter the illness.' - 'To deliver recitals where children with illnesses can sing, play, and dance to their families.' - 'A society where people of all backgrounds can express themselves freely and with peace of mind.' - 'To deliver the resonance of a concert hall to children in children's cafeterias someday.'
To realize each of these dreams, we will continue to deliver smiles 'here and there' (Acchi Cocchi).
Certified NPO Acchi Cocchi Acchi Cocchi was established following support for the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 and conducts social contribution activities through music and art. About 80 artists, including classical musicians, artists, and dancers, are registered, and as the name suggests, we visit 'here and there' to deliver smiles.
