Changes in English Education
It has been over three years since English became a required subject in elementary schools, and English education for elementary school students has become firmly established nationwide.
The English curriculum guidelines for elementary schools (from fiscal year 2020) and junior high schools (from fiscal year 2021) have changed significantly. Currently, 5th and 6th graders have two English classes per week, totaling 70 hours, and English has become a graded subject to develop the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in a balanced way.
Now that it is a graded subject, the curriculum has been expanded to cover four skills and five domains, with continuity to junior high school level English. The goal is to "foster the foundational qualities and abilities for communication." This is almost the same as the content of the previous junior high school curriculum guidelines.
In other words, the level of English learned in elementary school is increasing significantly and becoming more difficult.
Furthermore, the grades in which "Foreign Language Activities (English)" are conducted have been moved up, starting from 3rd and 4th grade.
Additionally, the number of English vocabulary words to be learned in junior high school has increased from 1,200 to 1,600-1,800 words, an increase of 400 words.
Junior high schools aim for all-English instruction.
In elementary schools, in particular, not only English but also programming classes are becoming compulsory, significantly changing the learning environment for elementary school students.
And, university entrance exams compliant with the new curriculum guidelines will begin from the 2024 academic year university entrance exams (conducted in January 2025).
Now is the time for ActiMethod's typing-based English learning
ActiMethod's strength lies in its learning method that allows for rapid input of a large number of English words in a short time. All general English "writing" is done through typing.
Vocabulary is developed by typing English words on a keyboard. Since audio prompts are provided and students type the English words to memorize their spelling, practice can be done in conjunction with correct pronunciation.
Once students become accustomed to practicing English by typing, they can type 5 to 10 times faster than writing by hand.

Message from the School Principal
This is Tanaka, the principal of ActiMethod Akashi School. English is not just a subject for exams; it is the most powerful "tool" for navigating life ahead.
At our school, children acquire the skill of "Typing x English" to connect with the world at an overwhelming speed while enjoying it like a game. Exposure to this skill from an "early stage" when the brain is most flexible will infinitely expand their future possibilities. Let's learn together.
[6th Grade Student] I can understand the English in movies!
It's really fun to learn many English words one after another. I can now naturally translate Japanese into English, and when I go to see a movie, I can understand most of what the characters are saying.
[Preschooler, 3rd Grade, 6th Grade Student's Parent] English skills have improved enough to win awards in national competitions!
A friend introduced us to a place where children can learn both English and typing, so we went for a trial lesson. My child was very enthusiastic and said, "I definitely want to learn." They had never touched a computer before, but most importantly, the teacher's lessons were very fun, and I think they came to like English. Currently, my two children are attending, and my son won 2nd place and my daughter won 3rd place in a national vocabulary competition. Their English skills have improved remarkably.
