Establishment of AEON TOWN Numazu

AEON TOWN Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture; President: Hisanori Kato) is pleased to announce its decision to establish a new shopping center, "AEON TOWN Numazu," in Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

1. About the Planned Site The site is located on the premises of the former Ishibashi Plaza in the center of Numazu City, a core city in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture. Situated within walking distance north of JR Numazu Station, it offers excellent accessibility by public transport, walking, and bicycle. Furthermore, it faces Prefectural Road 162, which connects to National Routes 1 and 246, making it convenient for those traveling by car.

2. SC Concept The concept of this SC is to create a "comfortable place for daily use, like a park," aiming to revitalize the local area. A plaza will be set up in the center of the SC, serving as a daily retreat with shade to soften the sunlight, and as a bustling space where children can play and events can be held. In addition to supermarkets and restaurants to enrich daily dining, the center will feature specialized stores such as drugstores, clinics, and service shops to enhance daily convenience. We aim to become a local gathering spot that supports everyone's vibrant lifestyle.

3. Regional Cooperation Initiatives Currently, as an initiative during the construction period, the art project "Kabe-Numa" (Wall Numazu) is underway at the site, supported and organized by local artists and companies. Four years have passed since the closure of Ishibashi Plaza, which was cherished by the local community for over 40 years. This project was born from the desire of local residents to "use this blank canvas to brighten the city" in the empty area created in the heart of town. The wall, stretching several hundred meters, features playful designs for passersby to enjoy, including images of Numazu's rich nature such as Mt. Fuji, Suruga Bay, and local mandarin oranges, as well as trick art. Toward the opening after the summer of 2027, we also aim to walk alongside the community from the construction phase to contribute to connecting the wishes of these local people.
