Aflac Announces 170 New Recipients for 2026 Pediatric Cancer Survivor and Orphan Scholarship, Total Support Reaches 3,987 Students

Aflac Life Insurance Company (President and CEO: Masaaki Koshida) announces the selection of new scholarship recipients for 2026 under the 'Aflac Pediatric Cancer Survivor and Orphan Scholarship Program,' which supports high school students who have experienced pediatric cancer or lost a parent or primary breadwinner to cancer.

This year, a total of 170 new scholarship recipients have been selected—30 through the Pediatric Cancer Survivor Scholarship and 140 through the Cancer Orphan Scholarship. The total number of students supported to date has reached 3,987.

1. Supporting 3,987 High School Students to Date

Since the program's establishment in 1995, a total of 3,987 students have received scholarships, with cumulative disbursements exceeding 2.3 billion yen.

(1) Pediatric Cancer Survivor Scholarship

This scholarship supports high school students who have experienced pediatric cancer. For the 2026 application cycle, 65 applications were received nationwide, and 30 students were selected as new recipients.

(2) Cancer Orphan Scholarship

This scholarship supports high school students who have lost their primary breadwinner to cancer and face economic barriers to continuing their education. A total of 238 applications were received nationwide, and 140 students were selected as new recipients.

2. How the Aflac Pediatric Cancer Survivor and Orphan Scholarship Program Works

The scholarship program is primarily funded by donations from Aflac, its employees, and its sales associates (Associates). Additionally, public donations are collected through street fundraising events across Japan and via Yahoo! Online Donation.
