Airbus announced that Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has placed a firm order for 18 A330-900 aircraft as part of its fleet renewal strategy. A contract signing ceremony was held in Copenhagen, attended by SAS CEO Anko van der Werff and Airbus Executive Vice President of Commercial Aircraft Business, Benoit de Saint-Exupéry.
The ordered A330neos will contribute to SAS's ongoing expansion of its international route network, enabling the airline to increase frequencies on existing high-demand routes and launch new ones.
Equipped with the latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330neo can fly non-stop for up to 8,100 nautical miles/15,000 kilometers. It offers a 25% reduction in fuel consumption, CO2 emissions, and operating costs compared to previous generation competing aircraft. It features the award-winning and innovative "Airspace" cabin, providing a new level of comfort.
Like all Airbus aircraft, the A330neo is capable of flying with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus aims to achieve 100% SAF operation for its entire aircraft family by 2030.
As of the end of May 2026, the A330 family has secured over 1,950 orders from 133 customers worldwide.
