[Survey] How Much Annual Maintenance Cost is Acceptable When Inheriting a Family Home?

AlbaLink surveyed 488 individuals living away from family homes about inherited property maintenance costs. The acceptable annual cost is typically 50,000 to 100,000 JPY. If expenses exceed this, 69.1% would choose to sell the property. The primary reason people feel maintenance costs are wasted is having 'no plans to live there' (59.0%). This highlights the financial concerns of inheriting vacant homes and the strong preference to sell when maintenance costs become burdensome.
