Delivering the 'inside scoop' from admissions examiners to students

The number of applicants for comprehensive selection exams is increasing every year. However, opportunities to hear what examiners are actually looking for in public are rare.

Manabiright conducted a direct interview with Associate Professor Einosuke Abe of Daito Bunka University's Faculty of Sociology, who is involved in the comprehensive selection process, to hear the truth from the front lines.

Three key factors for admission, according to Associate Professor Abe

▼ Why our university? 'Of all the sociology faculties, why choose us? I want to know. I also want to know how well you've researched us.'

▼ What do you want to learn after admission? 'What do you want to do and what do you want to learn once you get in? It's ideal if you can even say what career path you want to pursue in the future.'

▼ How often have you attended open campus? 'I would want to admit a student who came to our open campus two years in a row. It shows they've been watching us for a long time.'

A message from Associate Professor Abe to students worried about their career path

'Students today tend to overthink things too much. I think it's also important to have the courage to just go for it without thinking too deeply.'

Why Manabiright delivers professor interviews

While more high school students are aspiring to comprehensive selection exams, there are still few opportunities for them to hear 'what university professors are actually thinking' and 'what kind of world opens up when studying those subjects.'

'We want the real voices of examiners to reach all students, regardless of their region or environment.' That is Manabiright's mission.

Manabiright aims to deliver not just exam prep info, but also the 'joy of learning,' the 'meaning of studying at a university,' and 'how to find a career path.' We want all students, whether in urban or rural areas, to stand at the same starting line.

Future outlook

Manabiright will continue its series of interviews with professors from various universities and fields to deliver their real voices, the charm of their academic fields, and guidance on finding a career path to high school students and their parents.
