Asset Management One Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Noriyuki Sugihara; hereinafter "Asset Management One") gave a presentation at the 'Pension Senior Plan Forum 2026: New Study Group 2024 Report Meeting - Toward DC Expansion' (hereinafter "the Forum"), hosted by the Pension Senior Plan Research Institute on June 2, 2026.
The Forum was held as a report meeting on research conducted by the 'Study Group on Challenges for the Social Implementation of Post-Retirement Asset Formation (New Study Group 2024)' (managed by the Pension Senior Plan Research Institute), which was launched in October 2024. The research focused on 'necessary initiatives to improve corporate DC plans amidst advancing asset ownership reform (governance, improvement of DC operations, development of the environment for DC system expansion, etc.).' The seminar included reports on research results and recommendations, as well as panel discussions by study committee members on various themes.
During a panel discussion at the Forum themed 'Development of Operating Environments, Roles of Default Products, and Sophistication of Product Selection,' Hidetto Honda of the Retirement Business Promotion Department, Institutional Investor Fiduciary Management Division, gave a presentation on the analysis of DC plan participant trends since the inception of the corporate DC system, the challenges that have emerged, and the quantitative effects of setting designated investment methods.
In Japan, following reforms to NISA (Small Investment Tax Exemption System), reforms to corporate DC and iDeCo are underway, with increases in contributions and improved visibility of information for DC participants planned. Many attendees listened intently in the full venue. After the presentation, lively exchanges of opinions with many participants were held, reflecting the high level of interest in topics such as the ideal state of default products.
Asset Management One intends to continue expanding its product lineup to meet diversifying investment needs, further strengthen information provision and support systems for stakeholders, and work together with employers and plan administrators involved in DC operations to further popularize the defined contribution pension system and advance the initiative of 'shifting from savings to asset formation.'
