Aoyama Trading Co., Ltd. sponsored "ETHICAL CAMPUS 2026," one of Japan's largest ethical events, held at the Ariake Central Tower Hall & Conference on May 17, 2026. During the main stage event, the company hosted the "Aoyama Trading × University Student Collaborative Ethical Fashion Show," highlighting the potential of fashion to address social issues alongside the next generation of students.
Background of the Collaborative Ethical Fashion Show
At "Yofuku no Aoyama" and "SUIT SQUARE," Aoyama Trading promotes the use of environmentally friendly materials and product recycling to realize a sustainable society. This fashion show was realized as a joint project with university students, aiming to make ethical fashion feel more accessible. In advance, the company held meetings with participating students to discuss the message to be conveyed to attendees. On the day, students wearing company products walked the runway to showcase the appeal of ethical fashion to society.
Event Highlights
Starting at 15:55, students appeared on stage wearing suits made of recycled materials and high-quality, durable ethical items. The walking choreography and venue presentation, developed primarily by the students to communicate the appeal of the products, attracted significant attention from attending students and corporate representatives.
Student Comment
"Through this event, I was exposed to the activities of Aoyama Trading and other organizations, gaining new insights into viewing social issues from a broader perspective. It was my first time on a runway, but through this experience, I hope I was able to convey a positive message to the audience: 'Just try taking the challenge.'"
Comment from Aoyama Trading (Masahiro Miyamoto, PR Department Group Leader)
"Before this project, we held a roundtable discussion with students about 'waste reduction and resource circulation.' I was deeply impressed by their high energy and their own initiatives to solve environmental and social issues. Co-creating this ethical fashion show with such students has been of immense value to both parties. I hope this spreads empathy for solving social issues through fashion to all attendees and those who learned about the show."
Comment from Mirasasu (Noriki Horisawa, Representative Director)
"This year, we held an ethical fashion show as a first-time initiative. It was realized after student groups working on environmental and clothing waste issues requested to organize a show to convey the charm of ethical fashion. This event promotes the co-creation between students and companies on social issues. We invited Aoyama Trading, which focuses on resource circulation initiatives such as the 'WEAR SHiFT' project, to cooperate, and this collaboration was realized. With students' unique communication power and creativity combined with the company's professional expertise, approximately 200 people watched the show, making it a highly impactful event."
Future Initiatives
Aoyama Trading will continue to value dialogue and co-creation with young people representing the next generation, proposing ethical lifestyles through fashion.
