Following the closure of the long-loved cinema in Sapporo's Tanukikoji 5-chome, "Tani Co., Ltd.," the building owner, and "ARC Co., Ltd.," which will operate the LIVE HOUSE / CLUB "SYNC north" scheduled to open on the site in the summer of 2026, will hold a special event to give away the actual cinema seats to the public.

This location first opened in 1925 as "Sanyukan," Sapporo's first cinema. In 1981, it was rebuilt and operated with two screens, "Toho Plaza" and "Plaza 2." It later became a four-theater cinema in 2020. The seats used in Theater 1 and Theater 4 were replaced in 2006 by Toho Plaza, while the seats used in Theater 2 and Theater 3 were replaced by the cinema that moved in in 2020.

This event was planned with the aim of preserving the cinema seats, which have supported Sapporo's culture for many years, not as waste, but as a memory of the city to be passed on to the future and integrated into the lives of its residents. The seats that have supported countless stories will now carve out new narratives in the lives of the citizens. Participants can remove the seats directly at the venue and take them home.

About SYNC north Scheduled to open in the summer of 2026 on the former cinema site in Tanukikoji 5-chome, this will be Hokkaido's largest LIVE HOUSE / CLUB. Total floor area of 1,500 square meters. The interior design is neo-vintage and rugged, with a factory-like feel reminiscent of a theme park, incorporating state-of-the-art lighting and video systems to create a three-dimensional, extraordinary space that feels like stepping into another dimension.
