ArcEdge Space Signs Contract with D-Orbit for Satellite Launch and Orbit Insertion

ArcEdge Space Inc. (Headquarters: Koto-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Takayoshi Fukuyo; hereinafter "ArcEdge Space"), a company providing comprehensive solutions from planning and design to mass production and operation of ultra-small satellite constellations, announced today that it has signed a contract with D-Orbit S.p.A. (hereinafter "D-Orbit"), a space logistics company headquartered in Italy, for the launch and orbit insertion of multiple satellites.

ArcEdge Space has been advancing technological development for the enhancement of maritime communication and data utilization through on-orbit demonstration of elemental technologies for VDES (VHF Data Exchange System) and maritime situation awareness using 6U satellites. The satellites targeted in this contract are technology and business demonstration satellites that integrate three missions—VDES, satellite IoT, and radio wave observation—onto a single satellite platform.

Through this contract, ArcEdge Space will utilize D-Orbit's "ION Satellite Carrier" for inter-orbit transport and proceed with preparations for the launch and orbit insertion of multiple satellites scheduled for 2027 and beyond. By securing launch and orbit insertion means in parallel with satellite development, ArcEdge Space will further materialize its efforts toward demonstrating a satellite constellation integrating multiple communication and observation missions.

D-Orbit is a European space logistics company that provides services such as small satellite launch and orbit insertion, in-orbit transport, hosted payloads, and on-orbit demonstration through its proprietary ION Satellite Carrier. The ION Satellite Carrier can carry multiple satellites and release them individually in orbit, enhancing the flexibility and efficiency of satellite constellation deployment.

ArcEdge Space is steadily advancing its initiatives for satellite development, launch preparations, and on-orbit demonstration, leveraging the knowledge gained from previous on-orbit demonstrations, toward the construction of a satellite constellation utilizing VDES, satellite IoT, and radio wave observation. Moving forward, ArcEdge Space will continue to promote the social implementation of satellite constellations in fields such as maritime communication, utilization of ship-related data, and radio wave observation in collaboration with relevant organizations and partner companies.
