Raffles Hotel Singapore will offer special products and services for a limited time this April to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan. Through taste, craftsmanship, and cultural exchange, we will celebrate this milestone with offerings such as "Matcha Kaya" at the Raffles Boutique, the "Matcha Sling" at the historic Long Bar, and a cherry blossom-inspired Afternoon Tea.

"Matcha Kaya" at Raffles Boutique: A Fusion of Singaporean Tradition and Japanese Craftsmanship

Raffles Boutique's Matcha Kaya perfectly blends Japanese matcha with the smooth texture of Singapore's traditional kaya. First, the comforting sweetness of the slowly simmered coconut and egg custard spreads, followed by the deep, savory umami of matcha filling the mouth. The subtle green aroma and delicate bitterness create an exquisite balance, leaving a smooth, refined, and lingering taste.

Matcha Kaya pairs perfectly with bread, biscuits, waffles, pastries, French toast, crepes, and crackers. Packaged in a 200g bottle housed in the familiar gunny sack, it is priced at S$16 nett (including tax). Matcha Kaya is scheduled to go on sale at Raffles Boutique starting April 1, 2026.

A Legendary Taste Reborn: The "Matcha Sling" at Long Bar

The Long Bar unveils the "Matcha Sling." This is a heartwarming drink that fuses two cultures: the hotel's iconic cocktail, the "Singapore Sling," and Japan's representative premium matcha, "Uji Matcha." At the core of this cocktail is the finest Uji matcha from Horii Shichimeien, a Kyoto tea house established in 1879, characterized by its profound, earthy umami and smooth, creamy texture. The base is Brass Lion Singapore Dry Gin, which fills the mouth with refreshing aromas of grapefruit and lemon. This is followed by the gentle scent of St-Germain elderflower liqueur, with the delicate tannins and warmth of homemade Ceylon tea syrup enveloping the entire drink. The result is an exquisitely balanced cocktail that leaves a delicate, expressive, and sophisticated finish. Adorned with rice paper bearing the SJ60 commemorative emblem, the Matcha Sling stands as a symbol of the fusion of Singaporean and Japanese traditions.

The Long Bar introduced the "Sakura Sling" in 2016 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan (SJ50), and it continues to be served to this day. The "Matcha Sling" is a new cocktail following in the footsteps of this "Sakura Sling."

The Matcha Sling will be available for S$38++ (subject to service charge and GST) from April 1, 2026, until the end of 2026.

From April 6 to 12, 2026, The Grand Lobby brings the elegance of spring with an Afternoon Tea inspired by Japan's cherry blossom season. In the majestic space of The Grand Lobby, enjoy the glamorous flavors unique to this season through carefully selected Japanese-style savories and sweets.

Served on the hotel's signature three-tier silver stand, this Afternoon Tea features delicacies such as yuba filled with savory teriyaki beef, delicate sakura castella, refreshing plum sakura strawberry verrine, and rustic matcha azuki kinako cream puffs, accompanied by freshly baked scones (original and yuzu flavors) served with clotted cream and signature rose petal jam. The Afternoon Tea is served with your choice of carefully selected JING single-garden leaf tea or Raffles' custom blended coffee. The Afternoon Tea starts from S$108++ per person.

Reminiscent of the traditional Japanese custom of enjoying matcha while viewing cherry blossoms in full bloom, the Matcha Sling concocted by the Long Bar is also available at The Grand Lobby for S$30++ per glass as part of the seasonal Afternoon Tea experience.
