The pop-up store that opened for a limited one-year period last year in the historic city of Kyoto has now been reborn as a new concept store. While maintaining the interior decorations that convey the brand's rich heritage and vision, the store has moved to the vibrant Teramachi Kyogoku Shopping District.

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the BIRKENSTOCK Kyoto Concept Store officially opened. Located on Teramachi-dori, close to the previous Shijo-dori pop-up site, this new store serves as a space to embody BIRKENSTOCK's functionality, quality, and tradition in a fresh environment.

Situated just off the bustling Shijo-dori at the entrance of the Teramachi Kyogoku Shopping District, the store is characterized by an open space created by its wide storefront.

The floor, with its clean layout, features display stands made from textured logs and unique wood benches that utilize natural shapes. These natural wood fixtures have been recycled from the previous pop-up store, being carefully carried over to the new location.

While following the world-view of the pop-up store—which fused Kyoto's historic streetscape with BIRKENSTOCK's tradition—the interior has been updated to be even cleaner and easier to navigate. It is a store where customers can take their time selecting products or drop by casually during sightseeing or a walk through the city.

The store offers an extensive lineup unique to a concept store, including popular classic sandals, clogs, and shoes, as well as the latest collections, the premium '1774' line, and the 'CARE ESSENTIALS' foot and body care line, which uses only naturally derived ingredients.
