The Bizen City Museum of Art has been reborn from the long-loved Bizen Municipal Bizen Ware Museum, newly opening in July 2025. While inheriting the history and tradition of Bizen ware, it operates as a hub for disseminating contemporary ceramics and a wide range of artistic expressions. This exhibition introduces our museum's treasured collection. Part I will feature approximately 60 works, including pieces by renowned artists who have left their mark on modern and contemporary ceramic history, such as Toyo Kaneshige and Kenkichi Tomimoto, as well as works by leading contemporary Bizen ware artists and artists active in various pottery regions. "Ceramic Resonance" is a special exhibition that introduces the latest trends and unique expressions by artists in the contemporary ceramics and crafts scene from the unique perspective of the Bizen City Museum of Art. From tableware that complements daily life to challenging works that expand the possibilities of Bizen ware, this exhibition features works by artists with diverse materials, techniques, bases of activity, and generations, resonating together here in the pottery town of Bizen. In addition to these exhibitions, Bizen City Museum of Art is planning various related programs to experience diverse arts and culture. We will be holding a variety of events, including concerts in the entrance hall, tea ceremonies using Bizen ware vessels (Tsukigama), and workshops for children.
