BizReach Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / President and CEO: Tetsuya Sakai, hereinafter "the company") has signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with the Kyoto City Board of Education (Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture / Superintendent: Shingo Inada) to jointly implement initiatives centered on career education training for teachers.

Through this agreement, the company will first provide, free of charge and on an ongoing basis, training programs for teachers at Kyoto City public schools. These programs will utilize labor market data and insights from BizReach, the job-hunting platform that connects high-potential talent with companies. This initiative aims to establish a system enabling teachers to continuously learn up-to-date career perspectives based on societal trends, thereby supporting Kyoto City public school students in developing the ability to think independently about future career choices, proactively engage with diverse experiences and roles, and cultivate the skills to learn from them—realizing "Life Exploration Education" (Kyoto City's version of "career education"). Notably, this marks the first time the Kyoto City Board of Education has partnered with a human resources service provider to deliver career education for public school teachers.

This initiative is also part of the company’s sustainability program “Mirai Investment Project,” aimed at achieving the SDGs. BizReach plans to expand similar collaborations with educational boards in other municipalities in the future.

Kyoto City Board of Education × BizReach: Comprehensive Partnership Agreement Signed

The growing importance of "Career Ownership" in today's society—and the challenges of implementing career education based on social trends within schools alone

Amid changing economic conditions, traditional employment practices such as seniority-based systems are undergoing transformation, increasing workforce mobility and heightening the need for individuals to take ownership of their careers. This shift is irreversible, and the importance of early career education in schools is growing. In particular, with accelerating changes such as the advancement of digital transformation (DX) and the spread of AI, it is increasingly vital for each student to anticipate connections between their school learning and future society or personal aspirations, and to develop "career ownership"—the ability to proactively engage with their own career path and take action toward social and professional independence. To achieve this, students must learn to form hypotheses about the future based on data and cultivate independent thinking. However, continuously capturing evolving social trends and incorporating them into career education remains a significant challenge.

A new initiative by the Kyoto City Board of Education and BizReach: Maximizing educational impact through teacher support

Meanwhile, BizReach co-developed the “Mirai DESIGN Kit”※—a career education support tool for middle and high school students—with students from Kyoto Municipal Saiho High School in December 2023, supporting approximately 3,000 students to date. Through this experience, BizReach recognized that collaboration with teachers—the frontline educators—is essential to maximize educational effectiveness.

Therefore, BizReach and the Kyoto City Board of Education have now signed a comprehensive partnership agreement on teacher-focused career education, jointly developing programs that reflect the needs of the education field. Initially, a training program combining lectures and workshops will be offered to teachers at Kyoto City public schools. By incorporating exercises that allow teachers to review, inventory, and visualize their own experiences, skills, and career paths, the program is designed not only to provide insights for guiding students in life exploration education but also to foster new self-awareness and confidence in their own teaching careers. Through these learning experiences, the program supports teachers in delivering lessons that reflect societal changes, thereby empowering each student toward social and professional independence. Additionally, by conducting these training sessions annually, a system will be established to continuously integrate frontline business insights into classroom teaching.

1. Lectures to visualize the current state of society, the labor market, and career perspectives

Using government statistics and labor market data held by the company, the lectures will provide the latest career information, including changes in industrial structure and evolving skill demands.

2. Workshop for teachers to reflect on their own careers

Participants will review their past experiences and conduct practical exercises to inventory their strengths and skills. This self-reflection experience is designed to enhance teachers’ understanding and effectiveness in guiding students’ life exploration education.

※ BizReach developed the “Mirai DESIGN Kit,” a career education support tool for middle and high school students, aiming to realize the “Month for Thinking About Careers,” an initiative proposed by five first-year high school students in Kyoto City.

Comment from Shingo Inada, Superintendent, Kyoto City Board of Education

In Kyoto City, we have long promoted life exploration education across the entire school system under our “Kyoto-style career education” framework, helping students discover connections between their learning and future society or personal aspirations. Notably, through initiatives centered on the “Life Exploration Hall,” we have implemented experiential learning programs such as “Life Exploration & Challenge Experience,” “Wakuwaku WORK LAND,” and “Joy JOB LAND,” with the cooperation of many companies and members of the local community, receiving high praise from various sectors. However, despite these rich programs for students, teachers—the instructors—have lacked sufficient opportunities to learn about evolving career perspectives and corporate trends. We believe that partnering with BizReach to provide teachers with learning opportunities marks a significant step forward in deepening life exploration education in our city.

Comment from Tetsuya Sakai, President and CEO, BizReach Co., Ltd.

We are honored to have signed this partnership agreement with the Kyoto City Board of Education. This agreement is part of our sustainability program “Mirai Investment Project,” aimed at achieving the SDGs, with key focus areas on “cultivating future professional talent,” “creating future new industries,” and “protecting the future environment,” all aimed at realizing a better future through solving social issues. We are delighted to have established a framework to continuously support teachers—the individuals closest to students. Amid rapidly changing business environments, we will fully support efforts to make classroom learning more connected to society by delivering the latest market trends to teachers.
