Future Tea Cultivation, Connecting Tea Fields to the Future and Growing with the Region
"CHAGUSABA" is a collaborative product that aims to achieve the following, driven by the excellence award received at the "Kikugawa Challenge Business Contest" held by Kikugawa City in fiscal year 2024, towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050:

The Blessings of Chagusaba and Fukashi Kikugawa Tea
The raw tea leaves used in "CHAGUSABA" are "Fukashi Kikugawa Tea," registered under the Geographical Indication (GI) protection system and produced by Iwazawaen, a producer in Kikugawa City, using the "Shizuoka's Chagusaba Farming Method," a World Agricultural Heritage site.
World Agricultural Heritage Site "Shizuoka's Chagusaba Farming Method"
"Shizuoka's Chagusaba Farming Method" was certified as a World Agricultural Heritage site in 2013 as a characteristic farming method in Shizuoka Prefecture that balances high-quality tea production with biodiversity conservation.
By cutting grass from the grasslands around the tea gardens (chagusaba) and spreading it in the fields, it fosters high-quality tea while contributing to improved soil water retention, weed suppression, reduction of pests and diseases, and maintenance of biodiversity. https://www.chagusaba.jp/
Geographical Indication (GI) Registered "Fukashi Kikugawa Tea"
Kikugawa City is the "birthplace of Fukashi tea."
Kikugawa tea leaves have thick flesh and are steamed for 2 to 3 times longer than regular sencha, creating a smoother taste. Its rich yellow-green color, abundant aroma, umami, and body, along with its regional characteristics, have led to its registration under the Geographical Indication (GI) protection system.
Producer "Iwazawaen" (Kurasawa, Kikugawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture)
