The Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau (YCVB) applied for Yokohama City's SDGs certification system "Y-SDGs"※1 and has now acquired the highest certification, Superior. ※1 Y-SDGs Certification System: A system certified by Yokohama City to support sustainable management and operation of companies and organizations actively working on SDGs, evaluating and certifying their initiatives across four areas: ESGL (Environment, Society, Governance, Local) and 30 items. YCVB's Activities: As a DMO※2 leading Yokohama's tourism MICE, YCVB shares its vision with stakeholders and promotes Yokohama's appeal both domestically and internationally. It promotes tourism-based urban development that expands the vibrancy created by diverse visitors into business, culture, education, and civic life. ※2 Destination Management / Marketing Organization (DMO): An organization that serves as a control tower for tourism region development, collaborating with various local stakeholders and incorporating scientific approaches. Main YCVB Activities Evaluated: YCVB's initiatives contributing to solving social issues, such as the following, were evaluated: ■ Initiatives to promote Yokohama tourism MICE and increase consumption: We collaborate with tourism-related businesses and local communities to attract tourism MICE from Japan and abroad. We also utilize Yokohama's diverse resources to improve visitors' circulation within the city and promote consumption activities. ■ Development of an accessible environment for stays: We provide information to ensure that all people, regardless of disability or age, can enjoy Yokohama tourism safely and comfortably. We also hold training for tourism-related businesses to promote universal tourism. ・Barrier-free information on facilities and routes is posted on the official website "Yokohama Travel Guide." ・Multilingual support and communication in writing/braille are provided at tourist information centers operated by YCVB in the city. ■ Collaboration with local communities in Yokohama City: We work with approximately 600 YCVB supporting members, businesses, and local communities to boost Yokohama tourism and create new attractions. We also create business opportunities through exchange meetings among supporting members. In addition, we hold various courses to develop tourism MICE human resources and strengthen industry-academia-government collaboration.
