Cathay Pacific, the airline business of Cathay (Headquarters: Hong Kong, CEO: Ronald Lam), resumed direct flights between Hong Kong and Seattle, USA, on March 30, 2026. This route, operating five times a week, will be the only direct service connecting the airline's home base of Hong Kong with Seattle, the vibrant cultural and technological hub of Washington State.

This expansion will bring Cathay's passenger network in North America to a total of nine cities, adding Seattle to Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Toronto, and Vancouver. This summer, Cathay will operate approximately 120 round-trip flights per week to these nine North American cities.

The Hong Kong-Seattle route will be operated by an Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering full-flat beds in Business Class, spacious seating in Premium Economy, and a comfortable travel experience even in the world's most highly-rated Economy Class.

The Seattle route also expands cargo transport options, further strengthening capacity by utilizing the belly space of passenger flights, in addition to the approximately 40 round-trip cargo flights operated by Cathay Cargo to North America during the peak summer season.

As part of Cathay's 80th-anniversary celebration, the inaugural flight of the resumed Hong Kong-Seattle route was operated by a specially liveried Airbus A350 aircraft featuring the airline's iconic "lettuce sandwich" design. This special livery commemorates 80 years of supporting Hong Kong, its people, and its customers since its founding in 1946.

Comment from Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Cathay

Furthermore, the Cathay Group is committed to providing seamless and high-quality travel experiences, whether traveling to Hong Kong or connecting to over 100 destinations worldwide, through investments totaling over HKD 100 billion in aircraft, cabins, lounges, and digital initiatives.
