Chubu Centrair International Airport Co., Ltd. (Location: Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, Representative: Hironori Kagohashi) held an airport class for families from Inabe City, Mie Prefecture on Monday, June 6, 2026.
This initiative was implemented as an exchange program for the "Centrair and Inabe City SDGs Forest Creation" project, which involved collaboration with Inabe City, Mie Prefecture, located in the upper reaches of the Inabe River, and was carried out on Saturday, May 30, 2026, as part of SDGs activities leading to the future of the rich Ise Bay.
Centrair and Inabe City Afforestation Activities
The connection between Centrair and Inabe City is deep, dating back about 25 years.
During the creation of the airport island, soil from Mt. Fujiwara in Inabe City, Mie Prefecture, was used as part of the landfill material. Additionally, much of the cement, the raw material for the concrete used in the construction of the runway and passenger terminal building, was produced in the same area. Building on this background, and following the exchange through afforestation activities at Bairin Park on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the visit of Inabe City families to the airport to learn about it provided a valuable opportunity to feel the connection between the two entities.
