Charming Care (Ikeda City, Osaka Prefecture; Representative Director: Mizuho Ishijima), a nonprofit organization, has launched the beta version of 'QCareBase,' a fixed-point recording app for tracking activity processes.
Students entering universities through Comprehensive Selection and School Recommendation Selection now make up a majority (53.6%) of all university entrants, marking an era where both academic advancement and employment hinge on the question: 'What experiences have you gained?' However, extracurricular activities, volunteering, and part-time jobs—the very venues for gaining experience—are designed under the assumption that participants can physically attend and interact face-to-face. Children with physical limitations or medical appointments, and those who struggle with in-person communication, cannot participate on equal footing from the outset. Institutionally, only 15% of municipalities implement employment support under the Independent Support Program for Children with Specified Chronic Pediatric Diseases, revealing a structural inequality in access to experiential opportunities.
QCareBase was designed to bridge this experiential gap and institutional void. Users can systematically record their emotional and physical states across four domains—'mind,' 'body,' 'family,' and 'environment'—and accumulate these records into verifiable activity certificates. The app digitally implements 'QCare' (Trademark Registration No. 7015213), an educational program developed through Charming Care’s support practices since 2021, making it accessible to all.
The app is currently released in beta, and its features, specifications, and user experience will be continuously improved based on actual usage and feedback. QCareBase is not intended for standalone use but is designed to be integrated with developmental programs, training sessions, and workshops. By linking learning and activity processes with documentation, the visualization and validation of personal growth become meaningful. *Later in this release, we introduce three opportunities to experience QCare this summer.
Three Key Features of QCareBase (Beta)
1. Simple Multi-Domain Recording
Users can record their state anytime across four domains—mind, body, family, and environment—using five-color emotion tags and free-text entries. The five colors—joy, sadness, anger, anxiety/fear, and calm—allow users to capture their feelings as they are in the moment.
2. Visualization of Change Through Graphs
Accumulated fixed-point records are automatically generated into time-series change graphs. By recording continuously—'before participation,' 'during activity,' and 'after a certain period'—users can visually confirm their personal transformation process.
3. Issuance of Activity Certificates
By consistently maintaining records, users can generate a PDF certificate reflecting their personal growth trajectory. These certificates can be used in application materials for Comprehensive Selection and AO admissions, self-promotion in job hunting, and proof of reskilling achievements.
Two Access Routes
QCareBase offers two entry points tailored to different purposes:
For Development Program Participants (Continuous Recording): Log in with a participant code to accumulate records during the program period and receive an activity certificate upon completion.
For Workshop Participants (Anonymous, One-Time Use): A trial route for event attendees. Users can experience QCare recording on-site without registering personal information.
With workshop functionality built-in, QCare can now be experienced across diverse settings such as events, training sessions, and educational environments.
Why We Created QCare
According to a Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) survey (Reiwa 7), students entering universities through Comprehensive and School Recommendation Selection now account for 53.6% of all entrants, surpassing General Selection. We are now in an era where both academic advancement and employment demand the ability to articulate: 'What experiences have you had, and what have you reflected on?'
However, no matter how deeply or continuously one engages in activities like volunteering or part-time jobs, on paper, it all amounts to the same 'participated' proof. Currently, there is no distinction between a one-day experience and a year-long commitment in a single document.
Moreover, most common social experiences like part-time jobs center on customer service or standing work, making it inherently difficult for children with physical limitations or medical schedules to accumulate such experiences. Institutionally, only 15% of municipalities implement employment support under the Independent Support Program for Children with Specified Chronic Pediatric Diseases (PwC Consulting survey, March Reiwa 7), creating a structural gap where 'consultations are accepted, but employment support is not pursued.'
QCare was designed to bridge this experiential inequality and institutional void. The process of activity itself becomes proof. By visualizing 'how one has changed,' we can validate growth that words alone have failed to capture. Related article here ▶︎ https://charmingcare.jp/q-care-top
Why Combine with Marketing, Public Relations, and Japanese Language (Contextual Reading)?
Charming Care has selected marketing, web analytics, public relations, and Japanese language (contextual reading) as learning domains for QCare. There are three reasons:
Fields Compatible with Remote Work Many jobs utilizing these skills can be performed remotely, making them highly compatible with the employment needs of children with illnesses or special considerations, even under physical constraints.
Not Thoroughly Taught in Schools Only commercial high school students (5.5% of all high school students nationwide) can study marketing as a formal subject. Unlike regular subjects, most students start late, so early exposure allows students with physical or time constraints to gain a competitive edge.
Practical Skills Directly Linked to the AI Era The ability to read context and articulate it in language is foundational for giving proper instructions to AI. Marketing, public relations, and web analytics are also fields where integration with AI is rapidly expanding.
We are validating these domains as direct pathways connecting academic advancement to employment. While individual preferences remain paramount, our goal is to present compatible career options early.
Charming Care’s Unique Validation Structure
Charming Care is currently developing a learning companion and mentoring-type support program based on the QCare methodology. Mentoring support is highly individualized and costly to scale, so we plan to systematize and materialize QCare as a common methodology.
Additionally, focusing solely on chronically ill children limits sample size and makes comparative validation difficult. Therefore, we will collaborate with educational organizations like Hat Language Academy to conduct data validation across broader populations. The beta version of QCareBase released today will also serve as a validation platform.
Through collaboration with government agencies, educational institutions, and corporations, we aim to build a system that supports the academic and career advancement of children with illnesses or special considerations. The timeline for transitioning from beta to official release will be announced separately based on validation progress.
