Chieru Upgrades Cloud-Based Class Support System "CaLabo® Cloud" to Ver.1.1, Enhancing University BYOD Classes

▪️ Background of Development

University class environments have increasingly adopted BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), where students bring their own devices, leading to wider ICT utilization in various settings beyond computer labs, including regular classrooms and data science-related courses. Such environments require class support systems that allow instructors to grasp students' learning status in real-time and distribute teaching materials or collect assignments without stress. Meanwhile, "CaLabo® Cloud" has received numerous requests from the educational field regarding the clarity of its UI/UX and the operability of its screen monitoring. This version upgrade addresses these requests by enhancing functions to achieve more intuitive and comfortable class management.

▪️ Main Version Upgrade Details

The following functional enhancements and improvements have been made in this update:

◯ Significantly Enhanced Monitoring Functions (Up to 36 Divisions & Camera Monitoring)

The number of simultaneous screen comparison displays has been expanded from a maximum of 4 screens to a maximum of 36 divisions, allowing for an at-a-glance overview of the entire class's learning status. Additionally, "Camera Monitoring" has been newly incorporated, enabling real-time viewing of students' webcam footage. The system supports switching between desktop screen and camera footage, as well as displaying both simultaneously.

◯ Revamped UI for PC Classroom-like Experience (Unified with CaLabo Design)

The previous flat screen layout with aligned icons has been revised and unified with the common design of the CaLabo series, making it easier to visually grasp the flow of the class. This eliminates confusion about where to operate during use and allows for a smoother transition for users of previous products such as "CaLabo LX."

◯ Improved UI/UX for File Operations

- Intuitive File Distribution via Drag and Drop

Operation has been enabled to distribute files simply by dragging and dropping them into the class area. This allows for speedy distribution of teaching materials in fewer steps.

- Structured Report Box (Management by Assignment and Student)

The previous flat file submission mechanism has been revamped into a hierarchical "Report Box" structure that allows for organized management. Assignments can be managed by task and by student, making the confirmation and organization of submitted work more efficient.
