Founded in 1861 in Nishijin, Kyoto In 1861 (the first year of the Bunkyu era), amidst the turbulent transition from the Edo period to the Meiji period in Japan, Chori was founded as a raw silk wholesaler. The original trade name was 'Choya', substituting 'butterfly' for the moth that produces raw silk, and later it was renamed 'Chori' by taking one character from the name 'Riichiro', the head of the founding Ohashi family. From 1956, the company began handling chemicals and various machinery. For 165 years since its founding, the company has been actively expanding its business while responding to the needs of society.

It embodies Chori's desire to solve problems together with stakeholders and realize their dreams.
