Cosmos Hotel Management Co., Ltd., which operates the apartment hotel "MIMARU," has launched a new initiative starting July 2026 where 15 MIMARU facilities located in tourist areas such as Asakusa, Ginza, and Shinjuku in Tokyo will collaborate. This will allow guests staying at MIMARU to visit a nearby MIMARU facility and freely consult with staff if they encounter any difficulties while sightseeing. By creating an environment where guests can seek assistance not only at their accommodation but also at other MIMARU locations, we aim to provide peace of mind with the assurance that "there is a place to turn to when in trouble."
Supporting Peace of Mind During Travel, Beyond Accommodation
Family trips can sometimes involve unexpected problems, such as getting lost, a child suddenly needing to use the restroom, running out of smartphone battery and being unable to contact anyone, or being stranded due to sudden rain. For families visiting Japan for the first time, even minor inconveniences can often lead to significant anxiety.
Therefore, MIMARU is launching a new initiative involving 15 Tokyo facilities to provide a safe place for guests to spend their time, extending beyond the scope of their accommodation. Guests can freely visit MIMARU facilities located near major tourist spots like Asakusa, Ginza, Shinjuku, and Ueno to consult with staff.
Approximately 90% of MIMARU's guests are from overseas, and about 80% of them are families. Additionally, staff members from 39 countries and regions are employed, and the staff themselves have experience living and traveling abroad. This initiative was born from the difficulties and feedback observed through daily interactions with travelers and the staff's own experiences.
Nearby MIMARU Facilities Offer Support for "Minor Troubles" During Sightseeing
Guests staying at MIMARU facilities in the Tokyo area can visit their nearest MIMARU facility while sightseeing and receive the following support free of charge:
・Information and Directions: Guidance on how to get to destinations, recommendations for restaurants and nearby spots.
・Emergency Response: Shelter during sudden weather changes, emergency restroom use.
・Trouble Support: Smartphone charging (loan of chargers/provision of power outlets), use of free Wi-Fi.
・Multilingual Communication: Communication incorporating English and native languages.
During the trial period, the most frequent requests were for directions when lost, followed by requests for restroom use and umbrella rentals. In recent years, digital tools such as translation apps and generative AI have become more sophisticated in supporting travel. However, there are still many situations where consulting with a person directly provides reassurance. MIMARU values the support that only humans can provide, which cannot be fully replicated by digital tools, and aims to deliver peace of mind with the assurance that "there is a place to turn to when in trouble."
MIMARU's Unique Human-Based Support for Peace of Mind
This initiative is supported by staff members from all over the world. By leveraging their own experiences in Japan, they can deeply empathize with the feelings of visiting guests. Staff members who have lived in different cultural and linguistic environments can relate to the small anxieties and troubles that travelers may experience and provide personalized support.
Moving forward, MIMARU will continue to enhance the environment for visiting families to enjoy their trips to Japan with peace of mind, not only by providing spacious rooms and comprehensive facilities but also through the collaboration of 15 Tokyo facilities and the support of its staff.
