Welcia Pharmacy Launches 'Uetan-go' Mobile Sales Vehicle in Yashio City, Saitama to Support Regional Community Building

Welcia Pharmacy Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Junichi Tanaka; hereinafter 'Welcia Pharmacy') has announced the commencement of operations for its mobile sales vehicle 'Uetan-go' in Yashio City, Saitama Prefecture. The goal is to increase opportunities for shopping support, social interaction, and health promotion for the elderly and other residents.

In accordance with the 'Sustainability Basic Policy' established in November 2021, Welcia Pharmacy launched its first 'Uetan-go' mobile sales vehicle in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture, in May 2022. The aim is to realize a 'town where no one is left behind' and to serve as an infrastructure providing safety and security to local communities. With this launch in Yashio City, there are now 42 vehicles operating across 39 municipalities nationwide.

Welcia Pharmacy collaborates with each municipality to build regional support systems for the elderly. This includes utilizing 'Welcafe,' a community space operated within Welcia stores, and mobile vehicle patrols to achieve 'community-coexistence type' cooperation.

The 'Uetan-go' mobile sales vehicle sells food, daily necessities, and cosmetics, as well as general OTC medicines including Category 1 drugs (pre-order required). Additionally, it provides value-added services such as online health consultations with pharmacists and registered dietitians via a large on-board monitor, credit and cashless payments, WAON POINT and V Point rewards, and utility bill payment services. Through the operation of 'Uetan-go,' Welcia strives to help residents enjoy shopping while contributing to mutual support activities and the creation of regional communities.
