ペーロンフェスタについて
ぼうぜペーロンフェスタは、8月の第一土曜日に行われる恒例行事で、島外からも多くの参加者や観戦者が訪れます。往復300メートルの距離を最大20名の漕ぎ手で力を合わせ、そのタイムを競います。小学生や中学生、一般の部など5つのグループ別で競い、それぞれで予選、決勝が行われます。昨年は41チーム840人が競技に参加しました。また近年は、技能実習生として島に滞在している多くのインドネシア人も毎年競技に参加しています。ペーロンフェスタの最後には、坊勢島の海の男たちが、奈座、長井、西ノ浦にわかれて競う港対抗戦があります。港の誇りに懸けて、意地と意地とがぶつかり合う死闘はペーロンフェスタ最大の見どころです。
