Kyoto Prefecture and Maizuru City are working to attract cruise ships to Kyoto Maizuru Port to share the charm of the 'Sea of Kyoto' area with international and domestic tourists.

The cruise ship 'Island Sky' made its inaugural call to Kyoto Maizuru Port on Thursday, May 14.

The 'Island Sky' is scheduled to call at the port again on the 18th of the following week, and is set to continue visiting Kyoto Maizuru Port (Nishi-ko Pier No. 2) again next month.

To ensure that as many guests from the 'Island Sky' as possible become fans of Maizuru and return to visit, the city held a ceremony featuring traditional taiko drum performances by local groups and send-off events by cruise supporters at the Nishi-ko Pier No. 2.

Port calls to Maizuru City will continue. In May, a total of three ship calls are scheduled, including two inaugural visits.
