The JA Kyoto Ninokuni Manganji Amato Association and the Kyoto Tan-no-Kuni Agricultural Cooperative held a ceremony to mark the first shipment of 'Manganji Amato' for fiscal year 2026.

Manganji Amato is a traditional Kyoto vegetable believed to have originated in the Manganji district of Maizuru City during the late Taisho to early Showa era. It is currently grown across three cities: Maizuru, Ayabe, and Fukuchiyama.

In 2017, it became the first product in Kyoto Prefecture to be registered under the 'Geographical Indication (GI) Protection System.'

Performance in fiscal year 2025 included a cultivation area of 1,454.6 ares, a shipment volume of 498.8 tons, and sales totaling 473,534,000 yen. Having achieved record-high sales for nine consecutive years, the goal for this year is a shipment volume of 537 tons and sales of 537 million yen.
