In conjunction with the harvest season of "Naruto Rakkyo" (scallions), "Otetsubito" (helpers) from all over Japan gather to experience a two-week "Half-Farmer Half-X" lifestyle.
This project's major attractions are the unique experience of commuting by "ferry boat" (渡船) and the homely interactions at the four accepting farms. Many participants are repeat visitors, and some are seriously considering relocating to Naruto City.
This project allows participants to fully experience not only harvesting but also the charm and lifestyle of Naruto.

What is the "Half-Farmer Half-X" Promotion Share House Project?
This project recruits participants nationwide through the "Otetabi" platform, based on the concept of "Half-Farmer Half-X" for relocation, to experience two weeks of agricultural part-time work in Naruto City.
It has been implemented during the harvest seasons of "Naruto Rakkyo," "Naruto Kintoki" (sweet potatoes), "Strawberries," and "Aokubi Daikon" (radishes), with a total of 109 participants from all over Japan. It has received a great response, with the average application rate exceeding 5 times.
What is "Otetabi"?
Otetabi Inc. is a burgeoning startup company that provides a matching service for young people who want to work and travel in rural areas and businesses (such as agriculture and tourism) that are struggling with labor shortages.
Its platform has attracted many registered individuals interested in engaging with local regions, and the number of participants has rapidly increased. It is gaining significant attention from various media as an initiative for regional revitalization.
About the partnership with "Otetabi"
In July, Reiwa 6 (2024), Naruto City signed the first partnership agreement with Otetabi Inc. as a local government nationwide. They are collaborating to promote migration and exchange, create and expand the related population, and solve labor shortages.
Going forward, the policy is to expand acceptance to diverse industries beyond agriculture, such as tourism. From October to November, Reiwa 6 (2024), they accepted participants at three resort hotels within the city.
Furthermore, as a UIJ internship, they accepted participants in welfare-related offices (medical, nursing care, childcare) in August, Reiwa 7 (2025), and in Japanese confectionery manufacturing, food manufacturing, and marine product processing businesses in March, Reiwa 8 (2026).
