Nogata City Coal Memorial Museum to Hold Special Exhibition 'Lifesaving Devices That Saved Many Lives'

The Nogata City Coal Memorial Museum will hold a special exhibition titled 'Lifesaving Devices That Saved Many Lives,' focusing on the history of safety and rescue in coal mines. While coal mines once supported Japan's energy supply, they were always fraught with danger, and many miners lost their lives in accidents. In such harsh environments, rescue teams were at the forefront of saving lives, and the lifesaving devices they used saved many. This exhibition will touch upon the achievements of Bernhard Dräger, the developer of the Dräger-type rescue apparatus, and display historically valuable lifesaving devices, including a 1907 Dräger-type rescue apparatus from the museum's collection.
