Saga City has adorned the north and south exterior pillars of JR Saga Station with special designs reflecting the world of 'Atarimae Happy' (Atahapi). The motifs are derived from the striking illustrations that graced the covers of the 15th-day issues of 'Shiho Saga,' the city's official report. These designs, depicting 'Saga-style happiness' found in casual daily life, warmly welcome visitors to the station.
The decoration is scheduled to run from Tuesday, May 19, 2026, until the end of September. As JR Saga Station serves as the 'gateway to the city' for many—including commuters, students, shoppers, and tourists—the project uses this space to express the city's landscapes, lifestyles, and small daily joys with an approachable artistic touch.
'Atarimae Happy' is a city promotion initiative led by Saga City. It focuses on discovering and sharing the 'everyday' happinesses found in daily life, such as the vast sky, riverside scenery, and time spent with family and friends. This project aims to convey the appeal of Saga City, where 'the lifestyle itself is comfortable,' to a wide audience.
Through this pillar decoration, the city aims to create an environment where residents and tourists naturally stop to feel the charm of Saga. The designs are intended to be photogenic, encouraging social media sharing to naturally spread the city's appeal to a broader audience.
