Exciting Events Await! The 38th Ohno-Kita Galaxy Festival Announced!

The Ohno-Kita Galaxy Festival will be held on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, Reiwa 8 (2026), at Kanuma Park.

A major highlight is the 'Namahage Taiko,' a traditional performing art from Oga City, Akita Prefecture, known for its powerful and energetic drumming that will energize the venue.

About the Ohno-Kita Galaxy Festival in Sagamihara City's Chuo Ward

Centered around the JN Yokohama Line's Fuchinobe Station, the Fuchinobe area has long promoted community development inspired by dreams and fascination with space, thanks to the nearby JAXA Sagamihara Campus. Under the slogan 'Town of the Galaxy ☆ Fuchinobe,' various local initiatives have been carried out.

Following this slogan, the 'Fuchinobe Galaxy Festival' has been held since 1989 (Heisei 1). Starting from the 24th edition in 2010 (Heisei 22), the event transitioned from merchant-led management to an organizing committee model involving local groups and general participants, transforming into a community-wide event and renaming it the 'Ohno-Kita Galaxy Festival.'

The festival aims to foster unity, pride, and a sense of hometown and personal growth across generations through intergenerational interaction and community exchange.

Festival Highlights

Enjoy a wide variety of attractions, including stage performances featuring dance and concert band acts, a handmade market offering unique crafts you can't find elsewhere, and food booths featuring popular local restaurants.

This year, performances by professional musicians and other artists have also been confirmed. Building on past events while incorporating festival-style elements, the stage program promises excitement for all.

Additionally, the 'Ohno-Kita Furusato Festival' will be co-hosted this year, led by the local community association, aiming to deepen resident interaction and foster local pride. Local groups will present stage performances and operate booths (August 2, 2:00 PM – 7:30 PM), with full cooperation from Aoyama Gakuin University's American Football Team, LIGHTNING, helping to energize the venue.
