Takatsuki City announced that starting June 1, 2026 (Monday), it will initiate a new program to subsidize part of the home care service fees for young cancer patients (aged 18 and older but under 40). The goal is to support their medical and daily lives so they can live in their own homes as they wish until the end.

While home care support for cancer patients under 18 is covered by the Specific Pediatric Chronic Diseases Support System and those over 40 are covered by the Long-Term Care Insurance System, this new program is designed to bridge the gap for individuals aged 18 to 39. Eligibility is limited to Takatsuki City residents aged 18 to 39 who have been diagnosed by a doctor with terminal cancer, require home care, and cannot receive similar subsidies under other systems.

To apply, individuals must first consult with the Health Promotion Division, then submit an application form along with a medical opinion. Once approved, 90% of the costs for five specific services—home help (personal care, daily assistance, transport), home bathing, rental of welfare equipment (wheelchairs, special beds, handrails), purchase of welfare equipment (toilet seats, simple bathtubs), and care plan creation—will be subsidized, up to a monthly limit of 54,000 yen.
