Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture, will develop a new baseball stadium on the site of the current Nakayama Park Baseball Stadium.

On Tuesday, April 21st, a groundbreaking ceremony was held with the participation of baseball stakeholders and local community members, along with the construction company, as full-scale construction is set to begin. We prayed together with all involved for the smooth and safe progress of the construction.

For the development of the new baseball stadium, opinions were exchanged regarding usage and functions with the "New Baseball Stadium Construction Project Committee," organized by representatives of local baseball organizations. The aim is to improve athletic performance and create an environment where athletes of all ages can practice and play baseball, whether hardball or softball, on a daily basis.

Construction Period: Scheduled from April 2026 to December 2027 (Planned commencement of use: April 2028)

The current Nakayama Park Baseball Stadium was completed in 1976 and is now 50 years old.

Development Cost: Approximately 3 billion yen (budget basis, utilizing the Regional Future Contribution Fund)

Overview of the New Baseball Stadium (Key Design Points)

1. Environment for Easy Play for Athletes

① Stadium Orientation and Size

An orientation (north-facing) that is easy for athletes to play baseball, considering the direction of the sun.

Ground dimensions: 98m on both foul lines, 122m to center field (infield: black soil, outfield: artificial turf).

② Independent bullpen facilities to be developed (2 lanes each on the first and third base sides).

③ LED stadium lighting with improved illuminance to be installed.

④ Development of accessible parking and a circuit road.

Significant increase in parking capacity around the stadium (approximately 650 spaces to be secured).

Construction of a new circuit road around the ground to improve the flow of vehicles, players, and spectators within the stadium.

⑤ Foul ball prevention net (maximum height 30m) to prevent balls from going into the adjacent athletic field.

⑥ Scoreboard that makes it easy to grasp the flow of the game.

The scoreboard will be located in center field and equipped with electronic display capabilities to show information such as player names and pitch speed.

2. Environment for Enjoyable Spectator Support

① Development of spectator seating with a maximum capacity of approximately 1,090 seats (including 300 roofed seats).

② Installation of ground-level spectator seating (first and third base sides) for close-up cheering.

③ Indoor and outdoor accessible spectator seating (wheelchair accessible).

④ Universal design restrooms.

3. Facilities for Hosting Tournaments and Events

① Player locker rooms (equipped with air conditioning, heating, toilets, and showers) to be built behind the dugouts.

② Securement of paid access routes for paid matches and a design that prevents viewing from outside.

③ Establishment of a main control room, broadcast room, umpire's room, press room, and first-aid room.

④ Development of restrooms for officials and umpires (separated from spectator restrooms).
