Toshima Ward and Six Private Companies Sign Agreement to Disseminate Disaster Information via Street Visions

Toshima Ward today, April 27 (Monday), held a signing ceremony at the Ward Office main building for an "Agreement on Cooperation in Information Dissemination During Disasters" with Animate Co., Ltd., Sunshine City Co., Ltd., Taito Corporation, Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd., Parco Co., Ltd., and BIC CAMERA Inc.

**Background of the Agreement**

Following the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's revision of its damage assumptions for a direct earthquake under the capital in FY2022, the number of stranded commuters (people unable to return home) requiring temporary shelter facilities around Ikebukuro Station is estimated at 26,147, necessitating further countermeasures.

This agreement stipulates the necessary matters regarding the cooperation of private companies to quickly and effectively provide essential information to stranded commuters during a disaster, utilizing street visions and digital signage around Ikebukuro Station. The goal is to prevent congestion at the station, ensure safety, and avoid hindering rescue and lifesaving activities.

Moving forward, in the event of a disaster within the ward, not only ward facilities but also private company-owned visions will be utilized to achieve rapid information provision, especially during the initial stages of a disaster, such as guiding stranded commuters and providing information on temporary shelter facilities.

Regarding the signing of this agreement, Toshima Ward Mayor Miyuki Takakusa commented, "This project, which began in FY2024 following proposals from ward residents, has reached its signing ceremony today thanks to the cooperation of companies around Ikebukuro Station. By signing this agreement with six companies that will be central to information dissemination, we will be able to quickly convey correct information. We hope to further enhance the content, such as increasing the types of information we can provide."
