Toshima City Signs Agreement with BSK Corp for Emergency Temporary Toilet Supply

Toshima City signed a 'Disaster Emergency Temporary Toilet Supply Agreement' with BSK Corp (Headquarters: Osaka, Osaka Prefecture; Representative: Akinori Mitani) at the city office today, May 22 (Fri).

Background of the Agreement

BSK Corp operates a temporary toilet sales and rental business based on the philosophy of 'realizing a better society through comfortable temporary toilets.' The company has a proven track record of providing equipment in disaster areas, including setting up comfortable temporary toilets at evacuation centers in Wajima and Suzu cities, Ishikawa Prefecture, following the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake at the request of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

This agreement aims to address toilet shortages during disasters and ensure the smooth maintenance of shelter environments. It covers the installation of 'Comfort Toilets'—defined as toilets meeting 11 standard specifications set by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism—at locations designated by the city during disasters, as well as the provision of emergency supplies such as stored food and rental equipment.

Moving forward, the city and the company aim to resolve severe toilet shortages caused by water outages and infrastructure failure at evacuation centers, providing a safer and more secure environment for evacuees through the timely procurement and installation of these high-quality toilets.

Toshima City Mayor Miyuki Takagi commented, 'We are focusing on improving toilet conditions in evacuation centers for our residents, including women and the elderly. Providing these comfortable toilets allows people to use the restroom with peace of mind during disasters, which can lead to a reduction in disaster-related deaths. BSK is an essential partner for improving shelter environments, and I am very grateful that we have reached this agreement.'
