Ms. Misa Nishiyama (currently a first-year student at Soai High School), an alumna of Toyonaka City Shoji Elementary School, won the overall championships at the 80th All Japan Gymnastics Championships, held from April 16-19, 2026, and the 65th NHK Trophy Gymnastics, held from May 14-17.

To celebrate this remarkable achievement, Mayor Shigeki Osanai presented her with the "Toyonaka Kagayaki Award" (*).

Ms. Nishiyama, who won this competition, will participate in this year's World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

(*) Toyonaka Kagayaki Award

This award is presented to individuals or groups who have achieved outstanding success in national or international competitions and events, inspiring dreams, bright hope, and emotion in the citizens.
