In Yotsukaido City, on the opening day of the regular city council session (June 1st), the Mayor, executive staff, and city council members wore charity T-shirts to promote the 'Yotsukaido Furusato Festival,' a quintessential summer event.
This initiative was jointly carried out by the city administration and the city council to widely publicize the festival and revitalize the local community.
This year's T-shirt theme is 'Kagayaki' (Shine), featuring artwork created in collaboration with local facilities for people with disabilities. A portion of the sales proceeds will be donated to these facilities and used for the festival's operating funds. From the council chamber, the officials shared their commitment to their hometown, Yotsukaido.
While a portion of the proceeds from general sales is donated to the disability facilities, city council members purchased the shirts at a price excluding the donation amount, in compliance with the Public Offices Election Act, while still supporting the promotion activities.
