DSEI Japan Hosts 'DSEI Japan 2027 Embassy Briefing Reception' for Diplomatic Missions in Japan

DSEI Japan, an international defense and security exhibition, held the 'DSEI Japan 2027 Embassy Briefing Reception' in Roppongi, Tokyo, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, for diplomatic missions in Japan to outline the DSEI Japan 2027 event, which is scheduled for April 28–30, 2027.

Bringing together international and domestic stakeholders to create collaboration opportunities for defense and security

On the day, 86 representatives from 46 diplomatic missions in Japan participated. Government officials and subject matter experts in the defense and security sectors also presented, sharing highlights of DSEI Japan 2027 and the latest trends in the international security environment.

At the beginning, Masanori Nishi, Chairman of the DSEI Japan Executive Committee, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the importance of strengthening international collaboration in Japan's defense and security sector and the role of DSEI Japan. Following this, Jin Ikezono, General Manager of the DSEI Japan Operations Office (Clarion Events Japan), introduced the features and growth potential of DSEI Japan.

Furthermore, Ben Smith, VIP Manager at Clarion Events Ltd, explained the VIP program aimed at encouraging the attendance of government officials from Japan and overseas, emphasizing its value as a forum for international networking.

Representatives from the Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Agency (ATLA), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) also introduced Japan's defense industry policies and initiatives related to economic security. To deepen understanding of how participation benefits each country, the latter session featured subject matter experts including Hirokazu Sotozono (Advisor, NEC), Jiro Hiroe (GMO Internet Group), and Masato Goto (formerly of the Ministry of Defense), who spoke on cutting-edge themes such as space, AI, and defense equipment transfers.

After the briefing, a reception was held to deepen exchanges among participants and build further cooperative relationships for DSEI Japan 2027. DSEI Japan will continue to contribute to the development and strengthening of collaboration in the defense and security sector in Japan and the international community.
