Tamsui Historical Museum Hosts 6 Lectures on Tamkang Bridge

The Tamsui Historical Museum is presenting six lectures as part of its 'Huweitang Lecture' series, in partnership with the New Taipei City Library at the Tamsui Branch. The series, themed 'The Road to Tamsui – Past, Present, and Future of Tamhai Transportation,' aims to provide diverse perspectives on the Tamkang Bridge. The lectures include: April 11, writer Li Dong-ming on the 'Beauty and Sorrow of the North Tamsui Railway'; April 25, archaeologist Lu Tai-lung on 'Time Beneath the Bridge: Underwater Archaeology and Estuary Memories'; May 16, transportation engineer Zhan Yi-xiang on 'After the Bridge is Completed, Time Begins: How a Bridge Becomes a City's Memory.' Further lectures include: May 30, architectural scholar Yin Bao-ning on 'Anti-Rejection and Reconnection: An Exploration of Zaha Hadid's Architectural Aesthetics'; June 13, biologist Lin Liang-gong on 'Bridges and Nature: Ecology is Not a Supporting Role, How to Make Space for Coexistence in Architecture'; and June 27, museum curator Chen Po-sheng on 'Disappearing Tamsui Transportation – Seaplanes and Light Railways.' Zhan Yi-xiang, former director of the Northern Region Project Management Office of the Directorate General of Highways, will share his 30 years of experience dedicated to the Tamkang Bridge. Yin Bao-ning will discuss design aesthetics and gender issues. Tamsui has been a crucial international gateway for Taiwan since 1862, and transportation changes have significantly shaped its urban landscape. The Tamkang Bridge is expected to reshape local cultural memory upon its completion. Registration is free online via the Tamsui Historical Museum's official website, with 40 spots per session.
