Reuters reported that Donald Trump praised the current Iranian leadership after US and Israeli airstrikes killed several high-ranking Iranian officials, including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Khamenei's son, Mojtaba Khamenei, has reportedly succeeded his father as Supreme Leader. Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, stating, "The United States will work closely with Iran. We believe Iran has undergone a regime change that will be very productive!" He added, "There will be no uranium enrichment, and the United States will work with Iran to dig up and remove all buried nuclear 'dust' (due to the B-2 bomber)... Nothing has been touched since the day of the attack." The Associated Press reported that Trump had previously stated the US would retrieve this buried material if an agreement was reached with Iran, a task expected to be extremely arduous. He also stated today, "We are, and will continue to discuss with Iran, tariffs and sanctions relief." Trump also warned that any country providing weapons to Iran would immediately face a 50% tariff on goods exported to the US.
