Taipei Weather Station Hits 38.3°C, Breaking May Record

The Central Weather Administration reported that at approximately 2:00 PM on the 27th, the Taipei Weather Station reached 38.3°C, setting a new record for May. The previous record was 38.2°C, set on May 28, 2021, and May 27, 2018. Forecaster Tseng Chao-cheng attributed the heat to the Pacific High and subsidence from southwesterly winds. The BCLab, led by Professor Lin Tzu-ping, warned that the urban heat island effect is shifting northward and that persistent nighttime temperatures pose significant health risks.
