President Lai Ching-te led his administration today to explain the latest strategic direction for addressing low birth rates and demographic challenges, announcing 18 measures under the 'Taiwan Population Strategy—Family Support Edition.' The measures include a monthly growth allowance of NT$5,000 for children aged 0-18, expanded subsidies for artificial reproduction (NT$130,000–150,000 for those under 45), raising birth benefits to NT$100,000, increased childcare subsidies for children aged 0-2, extended parental leave (up to 18 months), lower interest rates for student loans (from 1.775% to 0.775%), and expanded tax deductions. The government aims to reduce the financial burden on families and improve birth rates through these comprehensive policies.
